The grapes used to make the Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Rouge wine come from a one-hectare plot in Volnay, in a place known as “Les Longbois” and from vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. This is a regional Burgundy wine that is produced with the same care and attention as the Premier and Grand Crus made in this Domaine.
Domaine de Montille produces wines with great aging potential and in the most natural way possible. Their wines have great aromatic purity, and they are balanced and elegant without losing the Hubert de Montille class. Since 1995, the vines have been ecologically cultivated with Ecocert certification and since 2005, the grapes have been cultivated according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture.
The history of Domaine de Montille Bourgogne Rouge dates back to 1730, and it is now recognised as one of the best wineries in Burgundy. Hubert de Montille was a determining figure in the history of the Domaine. He took over in 1947 following the death of his father when he was just 17 years old. Now, his children, Étienne and Alix de Montille, have managed to perfect the wines and expand the Domaine, which is considered one of the best wineries in Burgundy.
"Racked before harvest to tank. Escaped the frost because the buds weren’t out. 10% new wood, mostly destemmed. Bright full purple. Perfumed, peonies and wisteria. Drink from 2024-2026." Jasper Morris MW
