Tasting Notes: A fine, ripe, juicy wine with balanced tannins, this is rich in Merlot and fine spice. The wine’s structure and its solid texture show fine potential. 92 pts Wine Enthusiast

The reputation of the Château has been well-established since 1770. At that time the winemaker of the domain earned the sobriquet, “The king of grape varieties”. Then in 1872, this superb property was handed over to the Family of the General de Moncets. Through much patience, a contiguous domain was developed at the crossroads of four vineyards known for their prestigious crus: Montagne, Néac, Saint-Emilion and Pomerol.
This Petit Chateau in Lalande de Pomerol WAY over delivers for its modest price tag. Pomerol is one of my Bordeaux appellations and this captures the essence of the soft, seductuve wines made there. Dark ruby hue, with aromatic dark plum and cherry notes underpinned by a pretty sandalwood spicebox component and a nice hint of oak on the nose.
The palate delivers more of the same in a plush, ample, supple wine with loads of dark fruit complimented by soft ripe tannins, a touch of oak, and rich, long mid palate and finish. This is absolutely terrific for the price, only a dozen or so cases left. Cheers!
Lots of darker raspberries, cherries, chocolate, and some loamy earth-like nuances emerge from the 2020 Château Moncets, a medium-bodied, forward, incredibly charming, and nuanced Lalande de Pomerol. It's going to evolve for 8-10 years.
