An exclusively Grande Champagne cru Cognac, AE Dor's No 6 Cognac has delicate floral notes that are typical for a Cognac of this terroir. Aged for a minimum of 25 years, the Cognac boasts an "Hors d'Age" age category, its lightly spicy and woody notes are testament to these many decades spent maturing in the famous paradis cellars of this iconic house.
The company is renowned for its extremely wide range of vintages thanks to Amedée Eduard Dor’s hard work, hunting for the best and oldest Cognacs of the region throughout the late 1800s. The A.E Dor domaine is most famous for its aging cellar, nicknamed “Le Paradis”, where some of its oldest Cognacs are stored in wax-sealed demijohns, a true paradise for any Cognac connoisseur
Amédée-Edouard has always been drawn to the grace of horses and the excitement of equestrian racing. He loved watching these magnificent creatures devour the track, leaving behind them a trail of dust and raw energy. The thrill of seeing these horses compete was immeasurable, and he admired their strength and agility.
One day, fate smiled on Amédée-Edouard when he won a handsome inheritance in a horse race won by a horse bearing the number 6. He realized that sometimes luck favors the bold, and that fusion of his passions could create unforgettable moments.
To pay tribute to this winning horse, he decided to create the cuvée "Numéro 6" as the first cuvée in his collection of old reserves. This Cognac was made with a meticulously selected blend of Grande Champagne, with each sip evoking the power and grace of the horse that marked that memorable day.
A former investment banker, Amédée-Edouard DOR harbored two passions at an early age : his love for horse racing and his personal collection of very old cognac eaux-de vie. In 1858, he founded his eponymous trading house. This marked a pivotal moment for his collection. He created a unique sanctuary, le Paradis, where he built up fabulous reserves that can still be seen today. Like a genealogist, he enjoyed discovering the origins and particular stories behind each of his vintages. Renowned for his boundless fascination and finely honed knowledge of high lineage cognacs, he dedicates his life to researching, selecting and collecting Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie that are as unique as they are exceptional. Our passion for rare and outstanding cognacs is a story of transmission. Collecting and passing on the finest treasures of the past is our vocation.
