After spending time working in Napa, New Zealand, Germany and Italy, Peter Veyder-Malberg founded Weingut Veyder-Malberg in 2008 with the intention of acquiring and restoring ancient terraces in Austria’s famed Wachau. These steep terraces are extremely arduous to farm and Peter is dedicated to working purely by hand, using century-old methods and adhering to biodynamic practices exclusively.
When it comes to his wines, Peter has steered his own path stylistically by intentionally restricting his yields and focusing on purity of the fruit, mineral nuance, and moderate alcohol. He credits these accomplishments through biodynamic and organic farming practices, extended skin contact, spontaneous fermentations, and minimal addition of sulfur. These wines are created with the intention to age for decades.
