  • Production: 623 case

Racines Description

  • Racines is the first project outside of France for partners Etienne de Montille (Domaine de Montille), Brian Sieve (Domaine de Montille) and Rodolphe Peters (Champagne Pierre Peters)
  • The focus of Racines is on the cool, maritime influenced vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills where they produce Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sparkling wines
  • Production methods are firmly rooted in the traditions of France with all native yeast fermentations, extended elevage, use of whole cluster for Pinot Noir and wines that have ample amounts of fresh acidity and the ability to age
  • In addition to the future Racines estate vineyard that is currently in development, they also work with some of the most compelling and historical vineyards in the region – Sanford & Benedict, Bentrock, La Rinconada and Wenzlau
  • Racines is quickly becoming one of the most exciting producers in the new world.  A singular that brings together some of the greatest winemaking talents in France together in one of the finest terroirs in America

Vinous: 96 Points

The 2022 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard is one of the best 2022 Pinots I tasted for this report. Bright and explosive, with tons of energy, the 2022 pulses with energy. I admire its vibrancy and persistence. Dark red/purplish fruit, spice, cedar, herbs, crushed rocks tobacco and a kiss of French oak are all dialed up. Clean mineral notes support the effortless finish. This expressive Pinot has it all.
