With consulting winemaker Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Dujac in Burgundy consulting on this amazing project it's no wonder Presqu'iles' wines have garnered some top scores from the press. Seysses' wines from their holdings in the Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy can sell for thousands, and are as scarce as hen's teeth. Here he gets to try his hand along with Presqu'iles head winemaker Dieter Cronje at crafting a superb Pinot from one of California's iconic vineyards - Bien Nacido.
It is one of oldest cool-climate vineyards in California, having been planted in 1973 by brothers Stephen and Bob Miller. Its track record is stellar, with hundreds of top wines made from fruit grown here through the decades including Calera, Au Bon Climate, Paul Lato and many more.
It is deep and dark, imbued with dark cherry, spicebox, floral top notes - it's plush and dense into the middle palate with ripe tannins in support, simply stunning! Drink this now after opening in advance, and over the next 4-6 years at least. In stock now and open to taste. Cheers! Chris
Rated 94 points, Vinous Media - "The 2020 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard is a dark, mysterious wine. Black cherry, plum, lavender and licorice bring out the darker side of Mt. Eden clone Pinot Noir from Santa Maria. A Pinot of substance and textual resonance, the Bien Nacido is super-impressive in 2020. The 30% whole clusters are impeccably balanced. This is a fine showing from Presqu'ile."
