Baby Brunello Under $15, this incredible Tuscan Red Can't Be Beaten for the Price!
I have long been a fan of the wines of Scopetone, from their Rosso di Montalcino to their long lived Brunellos. But the true bargain from this estate is their rosso di Toscana Sangiovese - an absolute bargain Tuscan red made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso (same grape as in their Brunello) that offers Brunello-like flavors and nuance in a very affordable, mid-weight, ready to drink wine that is the perfect summer red!
We've been selling this quite well since the new vintage arrive last winter, but with the recent 90 Point score from Vinous Media we thought we send this under the radar bargain out to the full list!
Soft ruby hue, expressive bouquet of dried red cherry and lovely Brunello earth tinged Sangiovese notes are followed by similar flavors on the palate with a hint of mocha and dark berry, medium in body and underpinned by moderate tannins. Drink this over the next few years with anything from pizza, pasta, grilled chicken, burgers, and more. In stock now and open to taste by the glass. Cheers! Chris
90 Points, Vinous Media - "The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino captivates with an old-school bouquet, blending dried cherries and strwaberries with earth tones, tobacco, and worn leather. This soothes with its ripe red and black fruits, guided by juicy acidity and an enlivening burst of sour citrus toward the close. The 2021 finishes with admiriable length while staining the palate with a tyart raspberyy concentration that adds a pleasantly youthful tension. The Rosso is simply a lot of fun, yet colors in the lines of balance. Eric Guido, Vinous Magazine, April 2023"
