Our Best Buy Champagne of the Year!
“...one of the best-kept secrets in the realm of world class bubbly.” John Gilma, View from the Vineyard

Who Says Great Champagne Has To Be Expensive? Today’s offer of Ployez-Jacquemart’s second label Marie Weiss Brut smashes that myth with a classy, sparkling, lively Champagne weighing in at under $40! Sure we have to buy big and work a little close on this one to get the price this low, but it is soooo worth it to offer this amazing bubbly at a price that won’t break the holiday budget!

Essentially a second label of esteemed grower and family owned estate Ployez-Jacquemart, I really don’t know how they can offer this extraordinarily high quality Champagne at such a low price. It is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 25% each of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, Our best value Champagne! 2014 base vintage. Dosage is extra brut, keeping this dry and focused with a lively fine mousse, bright citrus and apple notes matched nicely with a slight toasty, creamy undertone. This truly cannot be beaten at this price!

Laurence Ployez is a third-generation winemaker at her family's estate, which was established in 1930. She owns 2.15 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards in Ludes and Mailly-Champagne in the Montagne de Reims, known for its classic chalk slopes; in addition, Laurence purchases Premier Cru and Grand Cru grapes from 12 hectares of vineyards from growers that the family has worked with for over 20 years. All of the work in the vineyards is done by hand, from the beginning of the growing season until the grapes are harvested.

Unlike most producers in Champagne, she only uses a very small amount of reserve wine, if any at all and no filtration is used on wines aged in wooden barrels. The wines undergo a very slow bottle fermentation in a 25-meter-deep cellar, giving them extremely fine bubbles. Her wines are regularly recognized as a top producer by Peter Liem, Jancis Robinson, Revue de Vin de France, View from the Cellar, The Wine Advocate, and The Wine Spectator.

John Gilman, probably one of the best Campagne palates in the biz, has this to say about the producer “...one of the best-kept secrets in the realm of world class bubbly. The wines have never varied from their classic, complex and beautifully balanced style that emphasizes stunning purity of fruit, superb minerality, gentle leesy tones, very refined mousse and simply stunning complexity.” That they can achieve this even with their second label is amazing!
