“Colère which translates to ‘anger’, referencing the ocean’s profound effect on this wine, is a crisp, saline, citrusy, and low-alcohol white wine that is undeniably expressive of sea spray.” Perfect with light seafood and shellfish, especially oysters, sushi, crudo, ceviche and more!" Just 11% alcohol too!
Battered by Atlantic storms and oceanic influences, grapes grown here can struggle to ripen in the cool, extreme climate, all of which conspire to create this exceptional dry white. All for about $20!
Drink it on its own, but it truly shines with with oysters, sushi, mild fish such as fluke or flounder, or classic Dover Sole, as well as a wide range salads, shrimp, scallops, goat cheeses & chevres, charcuterie, and more.
If you know the team at Cree Wine you know that finding geeky, off-the-beaten path wines from obscure regions and grape varieties is what really gets us jazzed. This wine delivers on all fronts and easily earns its 99 point value score!
About Domaine Chéreau Carré
“Domaine Chéreau Carré occupies one of the most privileged positions in the Loire-Atlantique department of France, in the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation, directly at the confluence of the two rivers.
This family-owned winery has been an innovator since the 1960s by focusing on the qualitative advancement of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation through their exploration of their numerous single vineyards.
Louise Chéreau is the voice of the new generation at the family winery, shaking things up by creating fresh new expressions of traditional grapes and terroirs with her own line called Vices & Vertus. Louise’s wines operate outside of the rules and expectations of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine AOC, offering a perspective on the grapes and terroirs of the region from a vigneronne who is deeply familiar with both.
The folle blanche grape, indigenous to France’s west coast, is principally known for eau de vie production, but is also grown near Nantes to be a racy shellfish pairing, compatible and contrasting with the more well-known Muscadet wines made from melon de bourgogne.
Colère which translates to ‘anger’, referencing the ocean’s profound effect on the wine, is a crisp, saline, citrusy, and low-alcohol white wine that is undeniably expressive of sea spray.
While maintaining the depth and character that Louise’s vinifications are known for, Colère is a zesty, bright, and light-hearted aperitif that belongs near freshly-caught seafood and sunny days.Vinification – Estate grapes are harvested and direct-pressed. Alcoholic fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel without malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged on the lees for six months, and then bottled unfined and lightly filtered.” (Courtesy Domaine Chéreau Carré website
