Outstanding Debut Red Burgundy from an Up and
Coming Domaine - First time in the US!
It’s from a new producer on the scene - Domaine Jerome Fornerot, a promising young grower located in the village of Saint Aubin, squeezed into a winding, narrow valley between Puligny and Chassagne Montrachet. Today is all about their Bourgogne Rouge, but look out for his amazing whites coming soon!
The fruit for this amazing wine is from vineyards in Santeny, very old vines with one parcel planted in the 1970s and the other in the 1940s! Sustainably farmed, hand harvested, gently destemmed, and fermented for 15-20 days en cuve, gently pressed, then aged for about 10 months before a light debourbage (natural settling and clarifying by gravity), and bottled one month later. Textbook.
The result is a wine that delivers impeccable, classic Bourgogne Rouge character, leading off with red and dark cherry fruit on the nose, a hint of earth and spice, touch of cranberry, and lovely and inviting aromas. On the palate it delivers even more - with lovely silky, elegant fruit, plush cherry fruit, dark earth undertones, nice minerality, and a purity and seamlessness that will make you want another glass!
Drink this now (with your Boeuf Bourgogne!), or dozens of other dishes from roasted or grilled meaty fish, chicken, duck breast, pork, vela, mushroom risotto, the Perryville Burger, steak and frites and so much more.
But the best thing about this wine is the price! With many growers' Bourgogne now in the $45 plus range, and even reaching triple digits for a few superstars, this wine is a veritable bargain! Grab it now while it's new and undiscovered - only 100 cases came to the US, this won't last long!
If you love great red Burgundy but are put off by today’s high prices for Village level wines this is your wine! Delicious, affordable red Burgundy that way over delivers for the price.
