This is our second vintage of this utterly delicious summer white, a cheap and cheerful white wine with lovely green apple, melon, and gooseberry tinged fruit, supported by crisp acidity, clean & unoaked with mouthwatering minerality underneath.
If you love Sancerre, Sauvignon Blanc, Chablis, Albarino, Pinot Grigio, or a host of other crisp whites you will adore this! Drink with shellfish, mild seafood, salads, goat cheese, chilled shrimp, Sushi or all on its own on a warm summer afternoon. Its naturally low alcohol is a welcome respite in the heat of the summer, making this wine all the more loveable!
It’s a blend of 55% Colombard, 30% Ugni Blanc, 10%Gros Manseng,5% Sauvignon Blanc grown in Clay-limestone and silico-clay-limestone in the Gascogne region of France, about half way between Bordeaux and Toulouse.
Colombard
A native grape variety developed in the 1980s at the time when Côtes de Gascogne started to make a name for themselves. Colombard is known for its fresh, lively and enhanced notes of exotic fruits, passion and citrus fruits.
Ugni Blanc
Freshness and floral notes of rose and acacias.
This is the variety that we use for Armagnac. Its low sugar content makes for a better concentration of aromas, while providing a sufficiently acidic wine. It is distilled in November as soon as the wine is ready.
Gros Manseng
A late Pyrenean variety with ripe flavors of exotic fruits (mango, passionfruit and pineapple). Vinified as either a dry or sweet wine, Gros Manseng has real aromatic potential.
Sauvignon
This variety brings complexity and elegance to the other grape varieties. Sauvignon has the flavor of blackcurrant buds, box, broom and lemony citrus fruits.
If you bought this last summer you know how delicious and refreshing it is! If not you need to have this around this summer! No hype, no scores, just honest, authentic wine from the French countryside - and a back up the truck kind of white wine bargain
