Dominique Le Guen, at home in the vineyard
100 Point Cree Wine Value - Can a $50 wine earn a 100 Point Cree Wine Value Score? Absolutely, because everything is relative!
And because this $50 wine drinks like a true Chambolle-Musigny, wines that we sell for anywhere from $120 to $3500 per bottle depending on the producer
The vineyards around this humble village are known for their classy, velvety, seductive, expression of Pinot Noir, with complex cherry notes intertwined with dark earthy undertones, wrapped in supple tannins, and finishing with Chambolle purity and elegance.
Hudelot-Baillet's vineyards all lie entirely within the appellation of Chambolle-Musigny, even the Bourgogne Rouge, and one whiff followed by a confirming taste will take lovers directly to the unmistakable character and quality of wines from this hallowed ground. And better yet, this wine does it for a very reasonable introductory price!
Created in 1981 by Joël Hudelot and his wife Chantal Baillet, and passed on to his son-in-law, Dominique Le Guen, who had been working with him at the domaine since 1998, the property is making its best wines ever.
Dominique has continuously worked to improve the wines, both in the vineyard and cellar, and every vintage seems to bring more eloquence and class to his wines.
His more famous neighbors in the village have marked as a ‘vigneron to watch’, and his wines have level of purity that cannot be mistaken for anything but Chambolle-Musigny from the Bourgogne Rouge ($50) to the Bonnes Mares ($1500) per bottle.
If you REALLY want to see if great Burgundy is for you (and worth all the hype), without damaging the budget, THIS is the wine for you. Confirmed Burgundy lovers should jump on this one and buy as much as you can - only a few cases available, don't miss out!
