  • Fourth-generation Paul-Henry Pellé organically farms 40 hectares of vines in the kimmeridgian-centric village of Morogues in the appellaton of Menetou-Salon. The property is planted to 1/3 Pinot Noir and 2/3 Sauvignon Blanc, both of which thrive in these lauded soils
  • The fermentations for the Menetou Morogues occur primarily in tank with about 15% in a combination of foudres and 400-liter barrels. The esteemed parcellaire cuvées are fermented and aged in a combo of tank (30%) and 400-liter barrels (70%) that are housed in a cold and serene 13th century underground cellar
  • Like the top wines from Chavignol, Pellé wines drink well on release, but also have the power and precision to age beautifully for 10-15 years, often longer in top vintages

Domaine Henry Pelle Description

A blend of 7 parcels from the highest slopes of the appellation. This location (cool yet sunny climate) and this soil (Kimmeridgian marl) give this wine a subtle, pure nose with aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits. The taste is racy and crystalline, clear with a citrus fruit taste initially followed by a saline and mineral finish.

  • Appellation: Menetou-Salon
  • Varietals: Sauvignon Blanc
  • Vineyard: Vignes de Ratier is a sunny terroir in the village of Morogues where the bedrock lies just centimenters below the surface. 7,500 vines/hectare
  • Soil: Kimmeridgian marl bedrock under just 50 centimeters of topsoil
  • Viticulture: Practicing organic. Soils plowed. Hand-harvested
  • Vinification: Direct pressing of grapes, fermented with natural yeast in a combination of wooden vats and tank
  • Aging: Aged in on the lees in a combination on 70% wood (Foudres and used 400L barrels) and 30% tank
  • Notes: This kimmeridgian dominant parcel produces a mineral wine with power and electric vibrancy. It is long, persistent and complex with a silky texture
