NY Times 20 Wines Under $20 for Thanksgiving

This is absolutely the kind of wine the team at Cree Wine LOVE to stumble upon! First, we are huge fans of the somewhat unknown red wines of the Loire Valley, especially Cabernet Franc - especially from Chinon and Bourgueil. When our sales rep presented this little gem from a small grower we fell immediately in love with it!
But it was when we saw the price of this delicious wine that we went head over heels! It's medium deep ruby purple, with classic savory, herb tinged Cabernet Franc tones leading off, and dark earthy fruit underneath. On the palate it is soft and supple - medium bodied, layered and complex well beyond its modest price tag. A perfect wine for lighter meats - pork, veal, roasted chicken, duck breast, game birds, steak and frites, filet mignon, even the Perryville Burger, and of course a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Whether you have a big crew for the holiday or are just keeping to the budget, this is a perfect wine for Thanksgiving and all winter long!

It also comes from a fairly unknown (outside the region) small grower who is a true “vigneron’s vigneron” - we love supporting the little guys who toil just as hard, if not harder, than their better known peers. The wines are just now garnering the international attention they deserve, but have long been admired by fellow growers. In addition, the winery earned organic certification way back in 2000 and has been a quiet leader in natural farming ever since, something important to us. The name is great too - "jour de soif" a fun, light-hearted saying that literally translates to "day of thirst" but is really something closer to "joy to drink." We think you will agree!
