This isn't Your Grandfather's Nouveau!
If the tutti frutti Beaujolais of the past is your image of the region you need to taste today's offer from DOmaine Chapel! Simply put, Beaujolais has grown up to become quite a serious wine.
From the up and coming domain of David Chapel and Michele Smith-Chapel, this Beaujolais captures the deep earth tinged, dark fruit nature of the wines today. More akin to Pinot Noir than anything else, they are terrific alternatives to today's pricey wines from the Cote d'Or.
This young couple has crafted a beautiful red wine, lovely ruby in color, with lovely notes of dark earthy cherry fruit leading off on the nose followed by a perfectly balanced, medium plus bodied wine with supple dark fruit and another compliment of the deep earth tones on the nose. Tannins are ripe and supple, the finish is long and soulful. Chill it for about 5-10 minutes or so and the brighter red fruti tones pop up. It's perfectly suited for all kinds of food from grilled or roasted chicken, burgers, game birds, duck, filet mignon, pork loin or chops, veal, mushroom risotto - you get the gist! Just don't miss out on this classic example of the "new" Beaujolais!
