I have a special place in my heart for the wines of this region as it was the first wine region I ever visited! The Dautel 2020 Riesling Trocken brings back memories of the sites and tastes and smells of that first trip, a beautiful, food friendly dry wine that pairs great with salads, mild seafood, sushi and all kinds of Asian influenced cuisine. Total dry with hints of citrus, apple, quince - clean, bright and refreshing with a solid core of mineral laced fruit and acidity.

Christian Dautel is only the second generation at his family winery to estate bottle wines in Württemberg. While the family history for grape growing goes back 500 years, most growers in this region sent their fruit to the coop. Christian’s father Ernst was one of the first in this region to start bottling wines, leading with Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), Lemberger (Blaufränkisch), Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Riesling.  Today, Christian follows his father in the cellar and after stints in Burgundy and Oregon, Christian is making some of the best wines in the region.

Pairing: Thai cuisine, especially seafood, mussels, sushi, cheeses, salads, pork and perfect with a classic Thanksgiving menu with all the varied flavors and textures!
