In 2020, due mainly to fires and a very tiny crop, we only got a case or two of one of our all-time favorite Oregon Pinots - this year there’s more (still limited though!), but we have enough for a limited offer! I have loved the wines of this terroir driven winery ever since I visited them many years ago, getting a Master class in the soils, geology, climate and unique terroir of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Their Burgundian approach yields wines of amazing character, nuance and individuality, earth based wines that are some of Oregon’s best. The Mount Jefferson Cuvee is a Cristom classic, 100% Pinot Noir exclusively from the Eola-Amity Hills.
Most of their fruit is from their own renowned estate single vineyards - Eileen, Jessie, Louise, Marjorie and Paul Gerrie Vineyard - along with fruit from some of their finest partner vineyards. The variety of sources gives the Mt. Jeff (as it’s affectionately known) with unique characteristics due to the diverse volcanic soils, elevations, and aspects of its vineyard sources. With 30 years dedicated to whole cluster fermentations and native yeasts, it is the standard bearer of Cristom’s impeccable winemaking style.
"The wine is elegant yet deep and complex at the same time, polished and seamlessly balanced with lovely earth tinged dark cherry fruit, pleasant underlying acidity and strawberry and red cherry fruit middle. Fermented with 46% whole clusters, there is also a spiced note and supple tannin structure that counterbalances the fruit. Simply a great effort and a textbook Oregon Pinot for a very reasonable price.Wine Arrives late Tuesday December 20th, plenty of time to have it with your Christmas Dinner! There’s more wine this year, but it will go fast I am sure - cheers!" - Chris Cree MW
