“Deep, dark ruby-purple hue, lovey aromas of cassis, blackberry, and earth follow though on the palate with plush dark fruits, a solid core of earth tinged fruit, ripe supple tannins and a terrific long finish. This way over delivers for its modest price tag, easily earning it a 99 point value score. Drink this now and over the next 4-6 years at least! Pair it up with burgers, steaks, roasts, lamb, pork, and game.” Cheers! Chris Cree, Master of Wine
Tasting the amazing 2020 Château Carignan last winter with Julien Jouannelat at Wine Paris.
From the Right Bank region of Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux comes this incredible value priced red, a wine that delivers classic Bordeaux character at an unbelievable price!
We’ve been selling the wines of the beautiful property (built in 1452!) for a few years now and have become huge fans. But when I tasted the 2020 in Paris back in February (a 95 point vintage by the Wine Advocate), I knew that the team at Carignan had hit it out of the park.
It’s a classic Right Bank blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc
from 30-35 year old vines planted in a south-southwest facing vineyard composed of clay, limestone covered with stony gravels.
They use no herbicides, employ cover crops every 2 rows, and use only organic fertilizer including manure sourced from cows at the estate. Wine is aged for 8-12 months in seasoned French oak barrels.
