Why buy this outstanding 98 Point Crianza Rioja? Let me count the reasons!
First, let’s start with its founder, Pedro Peciña who worked for over 20 years as the head agronomist for La Rioja Alta, before starting the winery. Here he learned the traditional methods of crafting great Rioja from one of the best!
Then come the vineyards, located in some of the best terroir in Rioja with north facing vineyards in the San Vicente zone, rich with limestone.
They are a 100% committed natural producer, both in the vineyard and in the winery, but the wines are not “natty” at all! Classical, natural but clean & no funk!
They are a traditional producer in line with the Bordelaise model of long cask aging and bottle aging before release.
All of their wines far exceed the legal aging requirements for Rioja. This Crianza spends 2 years in wood, plus over a year in bottle before release. By law, only one year in oak, and 12 months in bottle are requires.
