We were lucky enough to receive a couple of bottles of this rare gem: Magnums (1.5L) of Michel Couvreur Overaged Whisky! Limited, Rare, Unique & Will Not Last Long!
This is one of my absolute all-time favorites! Michel Couvreur is a very unique individual and his whiskies are no different. He is a Belgium native who built a cave in Burgundy, France to blend and age whisky in a different environment. He purchases Single Malt Scotch Whisky and ages it in casks from around the world including casks that have previously held port, vin jaune, and sherry.
This bottling is a blend of two casks; one is 20 years old and the other is 13 years old, aged in casks that previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry. One would think it would be overtly sweet, but suprisingly it is not, due to the colder temperature and higher humidity of the Burgundian caves. It showcases a very soft and gentle sweetness that is just one layer of complex palate. Aromas & flavors of dried flowers, tobacco, almonds, nuget, toffee and crunchy sea salt. This whisky is the definition of a Hidden Gem. Highest Recommendation.
