Master Distiller Billy Walker works with producers from all over the world to source outstanding finishing casks. The Madeira barriques used for this expression previously held wine made from Malvasia grapes, a richer style of Madeira, lending balanced, tropical-fruit sweetness to the GlenAllachie house style. Important to note, this is the Cask-Strength version, coming in at 108.6 Proof or 54.3% abv. This is a big, rich, concentrated dram that blew us away! Highest Recommendation

This glorious bronze malt was matured for over 11 years in American oak barrels, before being transferred into expertly selected Madeira barriques which previously held wine made from Malvasia grapes; one of the richer Madeira styles. The result is a unique twist on the classic GlenAllachie style, with the perfect balance of sweet and spice.

He looks for well-maintained, quality casks that will complement the whisky rather than overpower it. Casks of different oak types add their own unique characteristics to the maturing whisky. The finishing period varies but each enriches the depth of the exquisite GlenAllachie spirit.
