I am just back from Bordeaux having immersed myself in grinding through the youthful 2025 vintage out of barrel - more on that later! But one of the best perks of traveling there is finding a few gems that have aged gracefully in the cellars of the Chateaux that are now being judiciously doled out. One such find on this trip is the Second Label of Premier Grand Cru Classé Mouton Rothschild, Le Petit Mouton.
With much of the character and class of the Grand Vin, this wine way over delivers at a fraction of the price! The 100 Point Mouton Rothschild will set you back at least $800 per bottle. But you can get as close as you can get to this iconic wine for just $350 today on three bottles or more. Many are selling this for far more online, up to $500-and even $600+ per bottle but we have an incredible offer today!
The 2010 Le Petit Mouton is expressing beautiful red and dark fruits as it enters its prime drinking window. Savory notes of earth, wild herbs, and cedar fill in as it opens in the glass, revealing a beautiful,complex facsimile of Mouton. On the palate it is supple, plush and layered, with hints of cassis, plum, cedar, graphite, dark fruits, all supported by supple tannins.
This is classic Pauillac, more specifically it’s “classic Mouton.”
